What can I do with a degree in Education? 

Graduates with a degree in Elementary or Secondary Education who complete all other requirements for an Arizona Teaching Certificate can expect to find employment in the State in any of a number of educational environments. The State offers opportunities for graduates to teach in a traditional public, charter, or private schools. School systems regularly inquire about the availability of SWC graduates for immediate employment upon graduation from the program.  

Education graduates also receive a teaching certificate from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) which is recognized in Christian schools throughout the world. Having this certificate opens up additional opportunities for graduates to teach in Christian schools in the United States and abroad. 

Elementary Education prepares an individual to be certified by the State of Arizona and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) in grades K-8. In addition to the Elementary Education coursework, a student must become Highly Qualified (HQ)by taking 24 credit hours in one of the following areas:
·         Communications/English
·         Mathematics
·         Social Studies
Secondary Education prepares an individual to be certified by the State of Arizona and ACSI in grades 7-12. In addition to the Secondary Education coursework a student must take a minimum of 24 credit hours in one of the following content areas:
·         Business
·         English
·         Math
·         Social Studies
