Southwestern College Is Recognized
By The NAIA
The Southwestern College athletics program was recognized as a Champions of Character Institution for the 2008-2009 academic year. The Champions of Character program is based upon the implementation of five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, servant-leadership and sportsmanship.
Qualifying institutions were involved in the following activities:
· Public address announcements at all contests encouraging participants to be Champions of Character
· All coaches, administrators and student-athletes signed the NAIA code of ethics
· Provided resources and opportunities for mentoring all student-athletes
· Each team was involved in at least one service project during their season
· The athletics department established policies for positive behavior of student-athletes and coaches during practice and games
