When searching for scholarships, don’t forget to check with organizations with which you or a family member have an association.  Explore all areas - do not leave a stone unturned.

Consider categories such as community service, fraternal, military, union, professional, and church involvement.
Don’t forget your parents and grandparents. Many large companies offer scholarships or tuition programs for children of employees. If you are uncertain, ask your parent to check with his or her human resources department.
Don't overlook student jobs. Employers like fast food chains, department stores, and supermarkets often give scholarships. Awards related to student employment can come from unexpected sources. For example, there are a number of scholarships for golf caddies.   (Excerpts taken from College Board)

You should never have to pay for scholarship information.
Churches: both locally and at the denominational level
Civic and Service Organizations: Jaycees, Elks, Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, etc….
Military: ROTC Program, GI Bill, Sergeant’s Association, Officer’s or NCO Spouse Clubs, etc….
Polish-American Club, 4-H, YMCA, Boy/Girl Scouts, etc….

Scholarships can be awarded for many different reasons. Make sure you research all areas. Also, when searching be creative and diligent. Start your scholarship search early to give yourself adequate time to fulfill specific scholarship requirements. Many scholarships require written essays or other consideration. Don’t be intimidated by this part of the process. Instead, use your supporting resources; parents, teachers, counselors. Additionally, there are many online assistance programs, such as Scholarship Help.
