Applying for Aid through the Virtual Financial Aid Office:

  1. FAFSA
Begin by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for federal, state and Southwestern College aid. The school code for Southwestern College is 007113The FAFSA will identify your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) — the amount of money the federal government expects your family to contribute toward your college education.  Even if you are not interested in federal grants and loans, you still need to complete the FAFSA. The Southwestern College Financial Aid Office will use your EFC from the FAFSA to determine your eligibility for state grants and other financial aid.

You can begin filling out the FAFSA as early as January 2nd of the year you plan to enter college. Start as soon as you can, because the process can take some time.  In order to electronically sign your FAFSA you will need to apply for a unique Federal Student Aid pin number.
  2. Virtual Financial Aid Interview
Once you receive your SAR (Student Aid Report), you will need to complete the Virtual Financial Aid Interview (You will need to have your FAFSA information EFC available for this step.)  For information about institutional aid, state grants or other financial assistance, please contact Heather Kim, Chief Enrollment Manager heather.kim@swcaz.edu or 602-386-4136.

  1. Award Letter
Once the Virtual Financial Aid Interview is completed, you will be emailed a Financial Aid Award Letter. The email usually arrives within one to two weeks. This letter will list all of the federal, state and Southwestern College related aid you may receive (If you have received scholarships and grants from other sources, please let us know as these will need to be included). Please note: You must be accepted by the Southwestern College Admissions Office in order to receive a Financial Aid Award Letter.
