SLC stands for Student Leadership Council. SLC in comprised of student leaders providing leadership in the following areas:
*Campus Activities
Welcome Week Activities, Magic Mountain Trip, Tailgate Parties, and Concerts are just a few of the activities you can expect here at SWC. We find high value making time to enjoy each other’s fellowship. We hope you take advantage of the numerous activities we have planned for you this year.
*Intramurals
Almost every Tuesday and Thursday night you will find some sort of intramural season in progress. Please refer to the intramural handbook to find a schedule of intramural sports provided.
*ConneXions
We are intentional about providing opportunities for your spiritual growth during your time here at SWC. One of the ways is through providing you opportunities to be discipled or mentored by either an upper classman or a Faculty or Staff member here at SWC. It is our goal that you get connected to our community and experience it to the fullest.
*Community Outreach
We’ve asked the question, “if SWC stopped existing, would our neighborhood know we were gone?” We could not let “no” be the answer to that question, so we are being more intentional than ever to reaching out to the neighborhood directly around us. Whether it is mowing a lawn, or moving a couch, or through inviting them to community activities on our campus, we want to be salt and light right here in our neighborhood.
*Student Mission Fellowship
SMF is comprised of a group of Students who focus on moving beyond our community to serving our city, and providing opportunities to participate on short term mission’s teams. SMF is open to anyone who wants to be involved.
*Prayer Team
We believe than unless our events and ministries are covered in prayer, then they are done in vein. The prayer team is comprised of students who are passionate about prayer, and are committed to praying for our community here at SWC. The prayer team is responsible for planning different prayer events on campus such as the week of 24/7 prayer. If this is your heart, then we encourage your involvement.
*Chapel/Retreats
We want chapel to be a time where we not only meet with God, but a time where we grow as a community. It is our intension to provide you a variety of worship experiences during our chapel time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You will be blessed by speakers from right here within our SWC community as well as speakers within the Valley, and outside speakers from all over the country. We also provide retreats for you to get away on and hopefully experience God in a new and refreshing way.
*Media Relations
Almost every week you will get to see promo videos for what is going on around campus, these are done through the Media Relations division of SLC. We also will be branching out to provide video stories of those in our community. If you are skilled in shooting and video editing, we welcome your participation in this area.
*Marketing/Promotions
Get the word out. We have a lot of stuff going on campus, and it is the duty of our marketing and promotions division to let you know about it. Whether it be through the website, emails, Facebook™, posters, chapel announcements, or word of mouth we want you know what is going on here on campus.
